I picked up smoking when I was enlisted into the army in 2007. It all started with me innocently trying out a cigarette and gradually I got hooked.

None in my family smoked and they detested smoking. So I had to smoke sneakily for fear of being found out by my parents.

Nonetheless, my parents eventually discovered my addiction and needless to say, they were devastated. They tried to talk me out of it but to no avail as I was already deep into it. Whenever I was bored or stressed, I would have the strong urge to smoke.

It got to the point where I knew it wasn’t worth smoking as it was destroying my life. I managed to stop buying cigarettes and turned back to social smoking. I thought that I would have better control over myself. But I was wrong.

The urge to smoke always came back when I was feeling down, and it only made me feel worse as I would condemn myself for falling back into the habit of smoking again.

This continued even when I got saved and started attending New Creation Church (in Singapore) in 2016.

But things changed after I kept hearing Pastor Prince preach that I have Jesus’ righteousness—even when I am smoking. That enabled me to receive the gift of no condemnation, and I am proud to say that I have finally broken free from the bondage of smoking!

Now, by the grace of God, I no longer have the desire to smoke and I have stopped smoking for more than a year.

Hallelujah! Praise Jesus for He is good all the time!
